Germanfest and Barbeque Rib Festival of Fort Wayne

Chris and Jeff were two friends with hearty appetites. They loved buffets and they made it a habit of keeping track of what they considered to be the best ones and they made it a regular habit of dining out at them. Their appetites were also a major aspect of their vacation location choices. Particularly when they were considering going somewhere within the country they would seek out major food festivals and plan their trips accordingly. They even had a special calendar that kept track of national food events and festivals and would make an effort to attend as many of these every year as they possibly could. And last month it was time for them to visit Fort Wayne, Indiana. They made travel plans and reservations for one of the hotels Fort Wayne and arrived with empty stomachs, well not really empty but ready to eat like they were.

It just so happens that they were in town for its annual Barbeque Rib Festival. This was absolutely one of their jackpot events and they tried to make it there every June. It really didn’t matter to them that great musical acts and nationally recognized bands from across the country also played during the festival, although they did consider it to be great background music. They were there simply for the ribs, all of them. The festival lasts four days and Jeff and Chris made it a point of getting in on the first and staying through to see the end. Ironically, this last time they were there they heard about another major festival that hey had apparently just missed. It was the annual Germanfest, which was established to honor and represent the large German population of the city. They were absolutely interested in the Weiner Dog Finals that were part of this eight day long festival, although they originally thought this was a food. However, since they both enjoyed great German food, which they heard there would be plenty of they were strongly compelled to check it out. The friends had to give strong consideration to spending the entire month of June in this great town.
